While over 3,000 Tamils, including women and children, lay bleeding to death in the streets of Sri Lanka, Sinhalese prisoners conveniently were allowed to kill fifty-two Tamil political prisoners in Colombo’s jail. What was to be known as Black July, thousands of Tamil homes were set on fire. When some occupants tried to flee, they were shot to death.
