CaribWorldNews, BROOKLYN, NY, Tues. Sept. 1, 2009: Brooklyn is set to host a health care town hall today as Caribbean American Congresswoman, Yvette Clarke, brings the issue home to her community.
Clarke is set to host a forum on the hotly debated issue at the Flatbush-Tompkins Congressional Church from 6 p.m. today, September 1. The church is located at 424 E 19th Street in Brooklyn, NY.
Participants are urged to RSVP by logging on to http://ny.barackobama.com/FlatbushTH. The event is being organized by the New York State office of Organizing for America, President Obama`s off-shoot campaign organization.
Similar town hall meetings hosted by congressional representatives nationally have included heated debates and boisterous arguments from participants, who are on both sides of the health care reform bill being pushed by the President.
The Brooklyn town hall forum comes as the U.S. Census Bureau released data that shows that 83 percent of full-time workers, aged 18 to 64, were covered by health insurance during all or part of 2007. The numbers for 2009 may be drastically different given the current unemployment rate across the United States.
