Concert Promoter Nabbed But American Impersonator Remains Jailed

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. May 5, 2009: A man accused of promoting a concert that touted a performance by Toni Braxton but who hired an impersonator instead, has been nabbed by police.

After months on the lam, Suriname media reports say Angel Ventura has been arrested by cops on the island. His arrest comes as the American-born impersonator, hired to do a private show in Suriname in February, remains jailed.

Trina Johnson was hired to impersonate Toni Braxton for a private event, her contract states. But instead Ventura allegedly promoted her as the real Toni Braxton leading to a riot on the night of the February 27th concert.

While Ventura and his partner, Signet Sampson, fled, Johnson was arrested and jailed.

Sampson remains at large. A recent email released by Johnson`s husband, quoted the performer as saying she is ` holding up okay` but has `some problems with back pains and abdominal pains` and is set to see a doctor tomorrow, May 6th.
