News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Mar. 10, 2017: It’s unsure how much more humiliation West Indies cricket fans can take. They keep on being buried in a pile of sh……cream! But they have yet again been forced to hang their heads in shame after the West Indies cricket squad were handed another historic thrashing in Barbados.
England’s cricket squad celebrated yet another win Thursday to claim a 3-0 One Day International series sweep in Barbados. It gives the English team a historic whitewash against the West Indies in an ODI series in the Caribbean – Ever!
Centuries from England’s Alex Hales and Joe Root Thursday in the third ODI powered the visitors to a record victory and forced the beleaguered Windies team –new coach to boot – to swallow another bitter pill of defeat.
Thursday’s result was the fifth-largest victory in runs terms that England has ever achieved in ODI cricket anywhere.
Yesterday the English men reached a massive 328 off their 50 overs. The Windies could only reach 142 and were bowled out in 39.2 overs.
It is the first time the English squad has done that since 2003 (in Bangladesh) and it is the heaviest defeat, in terms of runs, the West Indies have ever suffered at home.
The English squad also won the first two ODIs in Antigua over the weekend to take a clean-sweep of the series despite losing the toss in every game. In the opener on Friday March 3rd, England won by 45-runs over the West Indies while in the second ODI on Sat., also in Antigua, the West Indies managed only 225all out off 47.5 overs while the English responded with 226 for 6 off 48.2 overs.
While England is now looking forward to the Champions Trophy they host in June, the West Indies will have to stay home as they have failed to qualify for the eight-team event.
