Grenada PM Lone Caribbean Leader On Climate Change Program Today

CaribWorldNews, UN, New York, Tues. Sept. 22, 2009: Grenada`s Prime Minister is the lone Caribbean leader on the UN agenda for Climate Change summit today.

MM Tillman Thomas will be part of the closing plenary session from 5:30 to 6 p.m.  this afternoon at the 2009 Summit of Climate Change. He will share the session with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon along with Ahmad Babiker Nahar , Minister of Environment and Urban Development of Sudan and Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Prime Minister of Denmark.

This morning, UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon along with U.S. President Barack Obama, will open the Summit. 

Nearly 100 world leaders have accepted the UN leader`s invitation to participate an historic Summit on Climate Change to mobilize political will and strengthen momentum for a fair, effective, and ambitious climate deal in Copenhagen.

According to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the purpose of the Summit is to focus minds and
generate urgent action at the highest levels.

The Summit will mark the first UN visit for the Presidents of China and the United States as well as the newly elected Prime Minister of Japan.
