Guyana Independence To Be Marked Belatedly At NY City Hall

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 4, 2009: The Caribbean members of the New York City Council will host a recognition of Guyana`s independence anniversary today at City Hall. Guyana`s official independence was May 26th.

The Guyana Tri-State Alliance, The Consulate General of the Republic of Guyana, New York and Councilmembers Dr. Mathieu Eugene, T Dr, Kendall Stewart and Leroy Comrie will host the 43rd anniversary of independence celebration.

Several Guyanese will also be honored including attorney Albert Baldeo, justices Ingrid Joseph and Clarence-Barry Austin, writer Tangerine Clarke, businessman George Subrak and Imam Hajji Zakir.

The event is free and open to the public but identification is required to enter City Hall.
