Guyanese Nabbed With Coke

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. July 2, 2009: US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents continue to nab Caribbean nationals trying to smuggle narcotics into the U.S. aboard airlines.

The latest nabbed is Jacob Phillips, who tried to smuggle cocaine into the U.S. that was disguised as baking soda, according to the Stabroek Newspaper.

Phillips was selected for an exam by ICE agents after he arrived on board a Delta flight on June 24th and was selected for a customs examination based on an open warrant from Harris County, Texas for theft.

Phillips has been remanded to prison after an initial court appearance.

He will join several others already in custody, including a Trinidadian, who recently tried to smuggle in cocaine aboard a Caribbean Airlines flight from Trinidad.
