Jamaican Killed At Brooklyn Labor Day B-B-Q

CaribWorldNews, BROOKLYN, NY, Tues. Sept. 8, 2009: A 25-year-old Jamaican man was one of two men shot dead yesterday at an all-night barbecue in Brooklyn, New York.

Police identified the Jamaican victim as Marvin Brown, a construction worker who just finished taking classes to become an ambulance driver.

Brown was fatally shot when the gunshots rang out at 5:45 a.m. Monday at the alley on Chester St. in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Brown was shot in the head and died almost instantly. A second man, whose name was not immediately released, was shot in the chest and died a short time later at Brookdale Hospital, police said.

Investigators were not certain what triggered the gunfire.

Brown was born in the Caribbean but split his time between New York and London, where his mother lives, his friends said.
