Killer Of Guyana Power Security Officer Remains On The Lam

CaribWorldNews, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Weds. May 6, 2009: The killer of the Chief Security Officer of the Guyana Power and Light company remains on the lam, even as officials of the company try to come to grips with his murder.

Clifford Peters was gunned down by unidentified men Monday while supervising the removal of illegal electricity connections in the Lahama, Georgetown squatting area.

Police are still looking for his killer but Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Guyana Power and Light, Winston Brassington, told the Guyana Chronicle today that `the Company has already received a commitment from the Guyana Police Force for increased support during disconnection raids and reiterated that these raids will continue.`

Peters died at the Georgetown Hospital Monday after being shot with his own revolver by two men, who were allegedly sitting in some bushes and got into an argument with him over the disconnection attempt.

Peters is survived by a wife, six children and three grandchildren.
