Man Charged With Wife`s Killing In Guyana

CaribWorldNews, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Mon. July 13, 2009: The ex-husband of a Maryland woman has been charged with her murder in the South American nation of Guyana.

Police in Guyana charged Cobina Barker, aka Alex Barker, with murder on Friday, saying he killed his ex-wife Roselaine Hall and buried her in a shallow grave.

Hall moved to Guyana in 2004 to manage the Alpha Guest House, a hotel in Georgetown, the country’s capital city. The hotel was owned by her father, Byron Dick, who ran other Alpha Hotels across the country. Dick was gunned down outside his Georgetown home in 2003. No one has been charged in connection with the case.

Hall, according to Maryland news reports, was a 1995 graduate of Largo High School. She was reported missing by police in Guyana on Jan. 30. Hall had first married Barker but divorced and later married Romeo Rockerfeller. Rockerfeller had earlier been questioned in the killing. Hall was last seen with Barker leaving a salon and then by staff at the hotel where she returned for some cash.
Barker is set to appear in court again on July 15th.
