Whatz Up TV, one of New York City`s more popular Caribbean television programs is bringing politics to the people with its `Rumble in Da Hood` political debate.
Patrick Fuller and Shaun Walsh of Whatz Up New York, which airs on CIN (the Caribbean International Network on Time Warner Channel 73 every Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m., will present the second in a series of debates featuring political hopefuls facing off against their incumbent rivals.
The debate will features Councilmember Stewart defending his seat against challengers Dexter Mckenzie, Rodrick Daley, Erlene King, Jumaane Williams, Terry Hinds and Sam Taitt.
The debate is set for Ink Well Jazz Comedy Jazz Café at 408 Rogers Avenue, between Sterling and Leffert in Brooklyn NY on Saturday, June 13, from 3:30 – 7 p.m.
`We believe that this election is vital to our community and we fear that the election might go under the radar like many primary elections.,` commented Walsh on the motivation for the Rumble.
`That`s why we decided to promote this event to bring it to light. Making the voter aware that they will be able to vote for a new councilperson is what we are aimed to do.`
`The debate, open to all free of charge, will give the community a chance to ask questions to the candidates and also to hear them answer questions about the community,` added Fuller. `And as the title states, there will be no holding back. We are looking forward to a candidate or two to get politically knocked out. Candidates are advised to come prepared, to brush up on their knowledge of the community, know different stats on crime, foreclosure, senior centers, youth program as everything will be fair game.`
